Trends I am Loving: How to wear colored denims like a celeb

Kim Kardashian, Zoe Saldana, Heidi Klum, Ashley Green all are wearing it and flaunting it... What? You ask... Ladies good morning and wake up to this ever pervasive trend of colored denims! With Black and Indigo denims now passe, say hello to candy colored  and even pretty neutral  denim bottoms... Some of my favorite celebs sporting this awesome trend are seen here:

So how does one flaunt these denims with flair you ask. Fear not my readers, I am here with a well researched post and some intuitive ideas on how to go about this whole trend... So lets just get started :)

Pairing Colored Denim with Neutral Tops
The easiest and perhaps the safest option is to pair your bright denims with a neutralising top like in white or black. Imagine a crips white blouse with Red or Electric Blue jeans. It spells classy and sophistication like Kim Kardashian, Kylie Minogue, Cameron Diaz, Heidi Klum and Ashley Greene.

Colorblocking
This trend has recently become very sought after and it gives out a cheery, vintage vibe. Pairing a red jeans with a purple top or an electric blue jeans with a red top or even yellow jeans with a grey top spells fun and cheer out loud. You saw me do this look with red jeans and grey top in my previous post here. Some celebs rocking this look are Sarah Jessica Parker, Katie Holmes and Rihanna of course.

Pairing them with different patterns
This by far is my favorite look and I personally rock this look or so I like to think ;) You be the judge... This trend would see you pairing your colored denims with stripes, animal prints, checks, floral prints or any other busy prints :) Here's my look with some stripes and well I think I pull it off pretty well ;)

So how do you pair your colored denims?

Experiment 1: A Tunic in Different Avatars

There is this little grey tunic that I bought the other day, to match this particular pair of leggings I have. But as I am not a leggings person and I love to show my legs off (ok so sue me!), I get this brainwave and start teaming it with other stuff and voila I get these all new and different looks. Now honestly, am not really into accessories like costume jewellery or bags. But yeah I love shoes and jackets and have gotten around teaming them different stuff to create whole new looks all together :)

So anyways, this grey tunic of mine has these intricately structured sleeves that spell chic and feminine. Here's a look:
The structured sleeves!
I have done five different looks with it and here they are...

Wearing the tunic as a dress with a pop of colour in the form of Indigo suede peep toe pumps brings in a casual chic look...

For An Afternoon of shopping
Who doesn't love shopping and if it is done with your best friends in a sunny autumn afternoon it becomes double the fun :) For my afternoon of shopping I paired the tunic with a pair of Red denims (thoughtfully gifted by my MIL). Yes you heard it right I paired with a pair of denims and yup with a front tuck! The Red here gives the pop of color and well I kept it at that!

Meeting up for a Family Get Together
This was an easy one... Since, my family stays in Mumbai and it is known for its laid back attitude in dressing, all I had to do was pair the tunic (as a dress) with my distressed Denim jacket (continuing the denim is IN trend) and got my myself a dash of bright via a pair of Purple ballerinas :) More on these flats in an upcoming post :)

Lounging Around With Guests At Home
People say things change after marriage... Really? Well technically yes it does but one thing that doesn't change is friends dropping in anytime of the day! Well isn't that what close friends are for? :) For this wear my original idea of Grey tunic paired with bright tights! Yup I know bright tights are IN! Btw, I apologize for the horrible image quality in the pic below :(

After Dinner Coffee Date
This is my fav look and my fav outing. My guy and I keep really busy schedules beacause of which it gets really difficult for both of us to actually do some dinner reservations and reach on time. Very often we are the last people sitting and eating in a restaurant. So what we generally do is eat at home but go out for a late night coffee... For this look, I team my grey tunic as a dress with my most favorite leather jacket, which was gifted by my mom :) The Red shade is just brilliant and it is just so soft and comfortable :)

Let me know if you guys liked my looks and if you have any other ideas to team this tunic with... :)

Trends I Am Loving: Front Tucks

Front Tuck, cousin of the Half Tuck is something that is here to stay for a while now. Not as controversial as it's cousin, this particular trend has been doing the rounds of the fashion blogosphere and a number of fashion magazines and has been embraced with a lot of love. For those who need a little intro to these two types of tucks, here are a couple of images to help you guys understand the concept. After all a picture speaks more than a thousand words ;)

Left: Half Tuck  Right: Front Tuck
I personally am in love with the front tuck. The half tuck? Not so much! I first came across the front tuck on manrepeller.com and then sartorial.com and well needless to say I was hooked. Why do I like it so much? Well first cause it makes a ill fitted, loose shirt look fabulous. Secondly, cause it encourages me to buy more and loose fitted shirts, which end up hiding my errr not so flattering dimensions. Thirdly, cause it goes well with trousers, jeans, shorts and skirts alike :)

So which kind of tuck do you guys prefer?

Trends I Am Loving: Detailing

Detailing has been forecast-ed to be quite the rage in the coming seasons. It is a vintage trend that is coming back to take us by storm and mostly pussy-bow (yes i swear that's exactly what it is called) and net/crochet detailing are in the focus. Leather detailing to some extent is in too...

I am not really a fan of bows on my blouses especially "pussy" ones (there it is again!) but crochet/net detailing? I love... I love how they look feminine and classy... I especially love it on my blouses at the necklines playing peek-a-boo ;)

Here are a few images that show-off my love for crochetted necklines :)

Top from H&M
Top from Forever New
Taking these pics haven't really been easy for obvious reasons!

Do you like detailing as much as I do?

Why DressUp?

First off, hello to all my readers who have come from isimplylovemakeup.blogspot.com to check out this blog... Hope you guys are doing well :D
Next, hiya to all my new readers who have been directed to isimplylovedressup.blogspot.com via other means... Welcome! And do check out my makeup blog @ isimplylovemakeup.blogspot.com :)

Why did I start this blog especially when I already write another blog? Well, as is obvious, isimplylovemakeup was named in such a way that it would consistently focus on makeup, cosmetics and product reviews. I want to maintain its sanctity (what?) and did not want to litter it with other stuff that did not pertain to makeup. you see its the "Virgo" in me talking! But why "dressup" you ask? Well that's because I realize that makeup is incomplete without dress-up and vice-versa... We are 21st century women and very well know the importance of power dressing which includes the whole package of dressing up, making up, accessorizing and well putting your hair up (or down according to preference)...

Caution: I really don't claim to know all about detailing and designing and well maybe neither do I know much about the latest, off the runway trends but neither is my blog about them... It is about what I like and deem wearable in cities across India. It is about my sense of mixing and matching different trends and it is about how I "feel" the style quotient and fashion sense that differ from city to city... Be it high maintenance Delhi, boho-chic Mumbai, laid back Pune or even hip and trendy Bangalore, I aim to cover them all...

Hope you are as encouraging to isimplylovedressup as you guys have been to isimplylovemakeup :)
